I used to call it dedication. My nervous system called it a hostage situation.
For too long, I thought pushing through exhaustion meant I was strong. That ignoring my body's signals was commitment. That running on empty was just what we did.
Turns out I wasn't dedicated - I was holding myself hostage.
The way out wasn't through negotiation with my nervous system. It was through regulation. And as we head into the weekend, shifting your internal state starts with literally shifting your physical perspective.
Your Practice for the Weekend: Turn Toward Possibility
Sit comfortably and slowly turn your head to the right. Hold for 3 deep breaths. Then turn to the left and hold for 3 breaths. Repeat this 3 times.
As you move, remember: You have the ability to look in new directions, to see possibilities you haven't noticed before. Sometimes the answer is simply in changing your perspective - physically first, then mentally and emotionally.
