Not control over your future.
There are things that happened to you that greatly hurt. I want to take this moment to honour that.
Some of them scarred you.
Some of them still live in your body.
Some days you can feel them before you even name nor understand what you're going through.
Honor that.
Let yourself grieve what you didn't get.
The father you needed.
The love you were looking for.
The years you feel you lost.
The version of yourself you had to abandon just to survive.
You don't have to disassociate that it didn't happen.
But at some point, you have to stop handing that part of you the steering wheel.
Because feeling sorry for yourself can become addictive.
The story becomes the scapegoat of lost potential.
"I'm damaged."
"I'm behind."
"I'm too late."
"I should have figured this out years ago."
And sometimes those statements sound like honest accountability.
They're also a place to hide.
You can spend another year explaining why you haven't moved.
Or you can stand up and meet the life that's present for you now.
Don't fall for the trap of healing everything before you start moving forward either.
move with the grief.
move with the fear.
move with the parts of you that are still learning how to trust life again.
Stop calling yourself late when you're using "late" as another reason to stay on the couch.
Get up.
Get moving.
