Got something to share?
I love nothing more than diving down the deep, deep rabbit hole that is our country, and all the inner workings of such an amazing nation. If anyone has anything to share, whether that’s research you’ve done, blogs you’ve written, articles you’ve found, or even just questions that keep you up at night - bring them here. I’m looking for content to upload to our classroom, and being able to use it as an information hub rather than courses. Education is education, however it’s delivered. I’d be honoured to feature anything you’d care to share that fits or supports Scottish Independence - even some that question it as we are always open to hearing both sides of the discussion 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A Nation’s Right to Choose
Sometimes when I hear “I don’t support independence,” I wonder if we’ve forgotten what independence even means. It isn’t rebellion. It isn’t chaos. It isn’t turning our backs on anyone. Independence is the most normal thing in the world. Every country on earth has gone through the same choice: to govern itself, or to be governed by another. Ireland did. Norway did. Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Canada… all nations smaller than Scotland, all running their own affairs. Nobody questions their right to it. Nobody tells them they’re too small, too poor, or too weak. Yet Scotland is told to believe exactly that. That we are lucky to be chained to decisions we didn’t vote for. That we should accept governments we reject. That we should pay billions for projects we’ll never use. That we should sit on energy wealth while our bills are the highest in the UK. This is not partnership. It is dependency dressed up as stability. And like any long dependency, it creates fear. Fear that leaving is dangerous. Fear that without our “protector” we could not survive. That fear is powerful. But it is not truth. Scotland already is a country. We have our own legal system, our own church, our own education, our own identity. The only thing missing is the power to decide our own future. We will break those chains. Independence is not about flags or slogans. It’s about dignity. It’s about making sure our resources serve our people first. It’s about democracy that can’t be overruled by a parliament we didn’t elect. So when someone says “I don’t support independence,” what they’re really saying is: “I trust Westminster more than I trust Scotland.” And that, deep down, is the psychology we must unpick. Because once we believe in ourselves, there is no reason Scotland cannot do what every other normal country already does: govern itself, in its own interests, by the will of its own people. Independence isn’t risky. Believing we don’t deserve it is.
