Now, let’s get into it... because what I’m hearing that many of us are dealing with BREAKAGE! 💔✂️
Some of you mentioned that your hair grows slowly—which is totally valid -however, here’s the thing: growth is slow and hard to track.
💡 For me, it was a combination of both internal and external issues. Over time, I built small habits that made a huge difference—and I’d love to share all of those with you.
For now, let’s focus on the things that will give you the most impact 💥
🎯 Start With a Realistic Goal:
Hair typically grows about 0.5 inches per month—if everything is aligned (nutrition, care, stress levels, etc.).
📝 TRACK Your Progress:
You can’t grow what you don’t track! Tracking keeps you motivated and helps you see real results over time.➡️ Check out my post on How to Track Your Hair Growth for tips.
📌 Ready to Take Action?
Pick at least 3 of these habits to start doing consistently this week. Then next week, stack on 1 or 2 more. (I've listed both internal solutions and external practices)
1. 🧪 Oils That Actually Work
Mix:
  • Hexane-free cold-pressed castor oil
  • 100% pure rosemary oil
  • A few drops of ginseng oil
Apply overnight or before shampooing. These oils are proven effective and budget-friendly! 💰➡️ Want me to break down more oils, DIYs, or recommend products? Just let me know!
2. 💆🏽‍♀️ Scalp Massages
Scalp massages are KEY 🔑They:
  • Stimulate blood flow
  • Help nutrient delivery
  • Promote hair growth
✅ Tip: Bend forward while massaging to increase blood flow to the scalp!
3. 🩸 Check Your Iron Levels
Most menstruating women are low in iron—and that directly affects hair growth. Avoid synthetic iron and choose:
  • Bioavailable iron (animal-based or whole-food plant-based no fillers or binders)
  • Organic (important when you concentrate nutrients) and 3rd-party tested brands
🚨 If you need help finding trusted brand, please let me know! There are a lot of great company and some sketchy ones. I’m not a DR. but I’ve done my research and have incredible friends in the field.
4. 😣 Stress (Ugh, I Know...but I have to mention it)
Stress can and does stunt the growth. Not fair but unfortunately does impact our growth cycle & retention abilities. As much as possible find what works for you and focus on other areas of control. I still deal with a lot of stress and have managed to grow and maintain long hair. So can you! 💪🏾
👉 Focus on what you can control, and give yourself grace.
5. 🧬 BOND Repair Treatments
Ready for the magic word? BOND REPAIR ✨But beware of marketing fluff! Some brands claim benefits just for adding 1% quinoa. LOL
Look for salon-quality products with "active" ingredients that actually repair broken molecular bonds. Go for:
  • Repair masks
  • Leave-ins with bond-repair technology
6. 🧴 Find the Right Oil for Your Hair
Use oils based on your hair porosity:
  • I use a lightweight oil with detangling ingredients (my hair is fine) less products
  • My mom swears by Moroccan oil (too dense for my hair)
Each oil has unique properties—penetration, moisture, etc.📚 There was a fascinating article that broke down the lipid (fat/oil) profile! I should find that for you! Honestly simplicity is best and less products seems to be better for most people.
7. 💤 Reduce Friction
Friction = breakage ⚠️Here are some anti-breakage essentials:
  • Use protective styles
  • Sleep in a silk bonnet
  • Be very gentle when handling your hair
  • Curly girls: don’t brush dry
  • Straight hair: don’t brush wet
