Hey! For those of us who are a little less techy, I noticed only the first sentence of the posts show - you have to click the post to expand and get the full thing. TBH I need to figure out how to make videos! Who agrees? Or do you have another idea that you would prefer?
Reduce friction = reduce breakage
Let’s talk about REDUCING friction ✨ This has compounding effects—because when you reduce friction, you also decrease breakage and decrease shedding. Here are some easy and practical ways to protect your hair right away: 🌞 During the Day Protective hairstyles are your best friend! (I’ll be sharing some examples in future posts). Think: braids (not too tight!), my go-to donut bun, rope braids, and plenty of other classy-cute styles. 💁‍♀️ Ladies, please—do not squish your hair under a coat, purse strap, or anything else! You can wear it down, sure, but when you’re in the growth phase, it is CRITICAL you protect every inch! 💇‍♀️ Brushing Technique This one is so simple you’ll be shocked at the impact! It depends on your curl type and whether you even choose to brush, but let’s assume you do… - 1–2 (Straight through Wavy): Brush when your hair is DRY. - 3 (Curly): Brush when your hair is WET. - brush from the tips of your hair to the top!! This is a must! - Apply bond repair or oil after you brush-now I don't have data that says this helps. I'm telling you from personal experience that this helps! 😴 Nighttime = Beauty Sleep + Silk Let’s talk about silk—she’s a lifesaver for your hair. 🌙✨ Silk bonnets protect your strands, reduce frizz, and honestly, I’m always surprised by how much smoother my hair feels in the morning when I wear mine. If you don’t want to invest in one (they’re not pricey, but still), at least braid your hair before bed. BONUS TIP: When shopping for silk, look for 100% pure mulberry silk from trusted brands. 👌 🚿 Towel Friction (The Silent Saboteur) So you’ve washed your hair and now you’re rubbing it like crazy with a towel… girl, the damage here is terrible! 🙈 Instead, grab a microfiber towel or even a soft t-shirt. Gently squeeze out the excess moisture—don’t rub, don’t twist—just squeeze. Your hair will thank you! 💖 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE treat your hair like a delicate flower- be nice to it.

Post 2: Stop over trimming!
How often do you trim your hair or get it done? What if I told you that science has shown that your hair cannot grow more thaninches a/ month(and that’s only if your in the right hair growth phase and manage to retain it) then ½-⅓ an inch a month!!! Then you go to the hair stylist and guess about how much they cut off? Ya, all your hard work and then some!!! SO how long do you think we should go between cuts? - If you are worried about the ends breaking and splitting, you need to nail down your hair care routine and focus on "preserving the growth” stay tuned as we will discuss this in future posts! - If you think, “I have to go to the hair stylist to cut off the dead ends!” Once hair emerges from the follicle, the cells in the shaft are keratinized (hardened) and no longer metabolically active, meaning they are dead. - That is not the ONLY way to repair damaged/split ends!

@Lisa Davidson I love that you are already ahead of the game with your knowledge, Lisa! Every three month does seem like a lot to me. It sounds like you are trapped in that cycle because of the breakage you are experiencing right now. It's tuff I get that! How frequently do you use heat? Are you using any bond repair products like Olaplex or Redken or another one that has active ingredients or technology? I'm also curious to know if you slow growth has been a norm for you or if that is recent? That's a lot of questions lol I have no doubt that you will figure this out and unlock it!
Tackling hair breakage
Ladies, I’ve been reading your comments—thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! 🙏 Your feedback means everything, and I want this space to stay engaging and helpful, so please keep it coming! Now, let’s get into it... because what I’m hearing that many of us are dealing with BREAKAGE! 💔✂️ Some of you mentioned that your hair grows slowly—which is totally valid -however, here’s the thing: growth is slow and hard to track. 💡 For me, it was a combination of both internal and external issues. Over time, I built small habits that made a huge difference—and I’d love to share all of those with you. For now, let’s focus on the things that will give you the most impact 💥 🎯 Start With a Realistic Goal: Hair typically grows about 0.5 inches per month—if everything is aligned (nutrition, care, stress levels, etc.). 📝 TRACK Your Progress: You can’t grow what you don’t track! Tracking keeps you motivated and helps you see real results over time.➡️ Check out my post on How to Track Your Hair Growth for tips. 📌 Ready to Take Action? Pick at least 3 of these habits to start doing consistently this week. Then next week, stack on 1 or 2 more. (I've listed both internal solutions and external practices) 1. 🧪 Oils That Actually Work Mix: - Hexane-free cold-pressed castor oil - 100% pure rosemary oil - A few drops of ginseng oil Apply overnight or before shampooing. These oils are proven effective and budget-friendly! 💰➡️ Want me to break down more oils, DIYs, or recommend products? Just let me know! 2. 💆🏽‍♀️ Scalp Massages Scalp massages are KEY 🔑They: - Stimulate blood flow - Help nutrient delivery - Promote hair growth ✅ Tip: Bend forward while massaging to increase blood flow to the scalp! 3. 🩸 Check Your Iron Levels Most menstruating women are low in iron—and that directly affects hair growth. Avoid synthetic iron and choose: - Bioavailable iron (animal-based or whole-food plant-based no fillers or binders) - Organic (important when you concentrate nutrients) and 3rd-party tested brands
