About Me My name is Kurt. I am 33 years old, and my journey with neurodiversity and mental health began early—I have been formally diagnosed since the age of 4. Over nearly three decades, I have lived through and navigated a complex spectrum of conditions, including ADHD, Autism (both low and high functioning), PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance), ADD, and drug addiction. My Background & Lived Experience My path hasn’t been straightforward. Growing up, I spent time in care homes and was placed in boarding schools—including one that was eventually shut down due to physical child abuse. Fortunately, my journey shifted when I moved to a wonderful boarding school in Sudbury, Suffolk, where I stayed until I was 17 before transitioning into supported housing. Beyond my personal diagnosis, life has given me a deep, immersive education in neurodiversity: Parenthood: I am a father of four, and three of my children have ADHD and various overlapping conditions. Supporting them means I live and breathe these challenges daily as a parent. Firsthand Observation: Having lived around and alongside people with severe disabilities and complex needs throughout my life, my understanding goes far beyond textbooks. My Perspective While professionals like psychiatrists and mental health support workers study these conditions from paper, my expertise comes from lived reality, direct observation, and decades of personal survival and adaptation. I am deeply clued-up on virtually all types of mental health conditions. I am here in this Skool community to share what I've learned, connect with others who truly get it, and offer a raw, practical, and experienced perspective that you simply cannot get from a medical journal.
