📣 A Quick Update on Where This Community Is Going
When I started this community, the goal was simple: to create a thoughtful space for people working in Records and Information Management and Information Governance to share experience, explore real scenarios, and build professional confidence. We’re now growing steadily, and the discussions so far have confirmed something important — this kind of space works best when it’s active, intentional, and well-structured. To make sure the community stays useful and sustainable long-term, I’m going to introduce a clear structure with both free and deeper participation options. What’s Not Changing This community will always have a free component. The free space will continue to include: - Open discussion threads and real-world scenarios - Selected insight posts on RIM / IG practice - Community conversation and peer learning Nothing that’s currently free is being taken away. What Is Changing Alongside the free space, I’ll be introducing a more structured practice-focused option for members who want: - A clearer weekly rhythm - Deeper discussion of RIM / IG challenges - Practical application of judgement and governance thinking - A more focused professional space This will be entirely optional. Why I’m Doing This Records and information work isn’t something you “finish”. It’s an ongoing professional practice that involves interpretation, trade-offs, and operating in grey areas. A structured, supported space allows for: - Better conversations - More consistency - Deeper value for those who want it It also ensures I can continue to invest time and attention here without burning out. What Happens Next Over the next couple of weeks: - I’ll continue posting openly in the free space - You’ll see a clearer rhythm to posts and discussions - Details of the structured option will be shared transparently Early members will have the opportunity to join on founding terms, but there’s absolutely no obligation. If you’re happy staying in the free space, that’s completely fine — you’re still very welcome here.
