Your Blood Test Results
Have you ever wondered why your A1c, cholesterol, or triglycerides became elevated over time?
One concept that may help explain this is something called a personal fat threshold.
The idea is that every person appears to have a different capacity for storing excess body fat before health markers and metabolic strain begin showing up.
For one person, this may happen at a lower body weight. (145 lbs)
For another person, it may happen at a higher body weight. (220 lbs)
One way to think about this is like a storage unit.
At first, there’s enough room to store things without much issue.
But over time, if more and more items keep getting added without enough space, eventually the storage unit starts overflowing.
Now there are items spilling outside of it.
The body can work in a somewhat similar way.
For some people, chronically elevated:
- A1c
- triglycerides
- cholesterol
- liver enzymes
- blood pressure
may be signs that the body’s current storage capacity is becoming strained.
This is one reason why two people at the same body weight can have very different lab results and health outcomes.
The goal is not guilt or shame.
The goal is understanding what the body may be communicating.
