Psalm 78 - sometimes I feel just like the subject of the psalms, i fall away before remembering how good god has been, and then I say the right things but defy him in my heart. Yet he’s faithful to me, forgiving and merciful to me and always accepts me back.
Acts 18 - it’s easy to read 1 & 2 Corinthians and think that it’s just a happy and healthy place where paul was accepted but it says here that the people of Corinth orchestrated attacks on him, physically beat him publicly and plotted against him.
When paul was debating Jews he would lean on scripture to prove Jesus as messiah. Pointing to prophetic evidence, his background as a Pharisee helped him confirm Jesus as messiah. God was forming him from birth to have such an intimate knowledge of scripture and the sense connect the puzzle pieces. What has he been forming in me since birth for the well being of the kingdom?
Paul left those who didn’t believe, he didn’t waste countless hours trying to convince someone. Here’s the gospel, take it or leave it… might be a good rule in my life too.
1Kings - Israel was attached in the hills by Ben-Haded and won. They they attacked Israel in the plains after re-strategizing and Israel won. God is the Lord of all terrain and circumstances and there’s not an area of my life that he can’t make major movement. The king of Israel showed mercy to Ben-Hadad after these attempts and called him brother, and made peace. Showing the merciful nature of the Lord.
