Good morning,
Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don’t have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless—like chasing the wind. - Ecclesiastes 6:9 NLT
The NFL Draft was this weekend, and I found myself smiling watching those moments. Young men hearing their names, tears falling, families celebrating—it’s beautiful. You can tell it’s something they’ve dreamed about for years.
But even in that joy, one thing is clear: getting drafted is not the finish line. It’s the beginning. There is still work ahead.
That’s what today’s message reminds me of—two things we have to hold at the same time.
Be grateful for what you have.
Gratitude keeps your heart in the right place. When you pause and look around, you realize some of what you have today is what you once prayed for. It may not be perfect, but it is still a blessing.
Put your faith into action.
It’s good to dream. But dreaming alone won’t move your life forward.
Think about those athletes. Yes, they imagined that moment—but they also trained, sacrificed, and stayed consistent. There were long days and early mornings no one saw.
We do the same thing with our lives.
We dream about the promotion.
The bigger home.
The vacation.
Financial freedom.
But dreaming without action will leave you stuck.
Today's scripture reminds us that chasing after things without movement is like chasing the wind. It looks like progress, but nothing is actually changing.
As April comes to an end, take a moment to reflect.
Reflection Question
Did you work toward your goals this month, or did you only think about them?
Prayer of the Week
Dear God, I know I sometimes get ahead of myself, focusing on what I want instead of what I have. Help me stay grateful and keep working toward who You’ve called me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
