Getting books in libraries
My local library always ordered books through Baker Tilly because their systems worked well for librarians. Since they’ve gone out of business she has been struggling with knowing what she should be ordering. She has been ordering from Amazon, but that means she is paying retrial. Anyone have any insights whether suggestions for her (she knows Amazon is coming out with a library program but doesn’t have details yet) OR Suggestions for marketing to libraries?
Networking at a convention
I’m headed to Girl Scout convention in July. I am not having a booth as it is thousands of dollars. I can’t ‘sell’ at convention. What are your recommendations for networking / spreading the word about my books without violating the no sell rule?
🎤 Why Having a One-Sheet Is Important to Guest on Podcast Shows 📖
Here's a behind-the-scenes look at what many authors don't realize until they start pitching podcasts. Podcast hosts are busy, and we get pitched constantly. When your pitch shows up as three long paragraphs about the number of certifications you have, your degrees, or how amazing you are, you get the designation of spam. Podcasters aren't interested in your degrees and awards. We want to know what value you bring to our show. What can you talk about that will keep my listeners engaged, that's not in competition with what I offer, but is a complement to my services and topics on my podcast? When your pitch shows up with a clean one-sheet attached, you look like a professional who has done this before. A one-sheet is a single page that allows a host to see if you're a good fit for their podcast. Your photo, a short bio, what your book is about, and most importantly, the specific topics you can speak on. Add a few sample questions, your website, and social links so they can check you out. That topics section is the part people get wrong. Hosts are not looking for someone to talk about their book for forty minutes. They want a guest who delivers real value to their listeners. So instead of writing "my book about leadership," give them a few angles like how to give feedback that doesn't damage trust, or what to do when you inherit a team that doesn't want you. Now the host can picture the episode. That's what gets you booked. This matters especially for speakers, consultants, and executives. Podcast guesting is one of the fastest ways to build authority and sell books without spending a dollar on ads, but you have to make it easy for people to say yes to you. If you don't have one yet, block off an hour this week and build it. One page, clean design, saved as a PDF you can attach to any pitch. Then start reaching out. And if you would like assistance with creating a one-sheet, hit me up in the DM's Do you have a one-sheet already, or is this going on your to-do list? Let us know in the comments. 🦫
