⚔️ WEEK 2 CHALLENGE: THE MOVEMENT MIX
October 12–18 Last week, we tackled 300 pull-ups. This week, we’re switching things up. Your challenge: Accumulate intentional movement throughout the week AND try at least 1 activity you don’t normally do. 🎯 PICK YOUR LEVEL 🟢 BASE: 150 minutes ⚪ STANDARD: 300 minutes 🔴 BEAST: 450 minutes 💪 WHAT COUNTS? Walking, running, lifting, cycling, swimming, hiking, yoga, Pilates, mobility, sports, or any other intentional movement. YES, your regular workouts count! 🔀 HERE’S THE TWIST Try at least 1 activity outside your normal routine. 🏋️ Always lift? Try yoga or swimming. 🏃 Always run? Try strength training. 🚶 Always walk? Try cycling or Pilates. 💪 Do everything? Pick something you’ve neglected. Even 10 minutes of something different counts. 📋 THE RULES ✅ Pick your level. Adjust if needed. ✅ Accumulate minutes over 7 days. No daily minimum. ✅ Mix activities. Your normal workouts count. ✅ Try at least 1 activity you don’t normally do. ✅ Modify as needed. Walking, seated exercise, and low-impact options all count. ✅ Recovery matters. Don’t push through pain or add unnecessary training. ✅ Track your minutes honestly. A missed target doesn’t erase your effort. No equipment or special app required. Just track your minutes on your phone, watch, or a piece of paper. Report your progress in your regular Friday check-in and share your final total here after the weekend. The challenge is optional and doesn’t affect Active 300 status. 👇 YOUR TURN! Drop 2 things in the comments: 1️⃣ BASE, STANDARD, or BEAST? 2️⃣ What’s the NEW activity you’re trying? Get moving. Try something different. Have some fun with it. LET’S GO, PROJECT 300! ⚔️💪
Wk 2 Friday Check In
I’ve been tired this week - don’t know what’s up with that BUT the workouts are going pretty well. 2 days to go and I’m up to 380 minutes of exercise including 150 minutes of stuff I don’t normally do - yoga, a couple walks, and dance fitness. I’ll get the Beast goal for the challenge easily since I’m planning a spin class plus the race intervals workout tomorrow and minimum and Orangetheory class on Sunday - maybe the other P300 strength workout later in the day depending on how I feel. So what I said I would do - get the workouts in and try yoga and walk happened and I’m pleased with that. I also made an effort to drink more water since I’ve been slacking there. Yoga was not graceful. Dancing was fun and took me back to my Zumba instructor days. Good to do different things though. I guess I haven’t been at a spin class in forever so that’s different for me too 🤔 Orangetheory killed our shoulders this week but otherwise really good heavy lifting and good runs there. We had the 12 minute run benchmark on Thursday and got my beat result since June 2022 so it’s great to be back toward the top of my running game. This is my last weekend before 5 consecutive race weekends - pray for me 😂 - I’m tired already just thinking about it!
Friday check in!
Still struggling a bit with my schedule, but not giving up. My workouts this week have been terrible, almost non-existent. Ive been lacking motivation, energy, and just feeling pretty run down. I know I need to just do the workouts regardless of how im feeling. I know relying on discipline over motivation is what's going to get me to my goals, so im working on that right now. I have 10 days off of work starting tomorrow, so im looking forward to getting some rest, getting some time in with the family, getting the workouts done, and priortizing my schedule (not my work schedule). im just really thankful to have this time to reset. It seems to have come at the perfect time. Happy Friday all! Keep kicking butt. You guys are my inspiration right now. I see you all do it and it makes me want to do better
RECOVERY TOOL SPOTLIGHT: CUPPING THERAPY
Recovery is just as important as putting in the work! One tool I use to help with muscle recovery and tension is cupping. I use two different types depending on what I need and where I’m at. 👇 NOTE: The links below point to the devices I use; I receive no benefit from sharing them. Hope this helps with your active recovery journey! 🔴 1. Full Cupping Set — At-Home Recovery Great for having multiple cups available to target different muscle groups and areas of the body. This is my go-to option when I have time for a more focused recovery session. ⚫ 2. Therabody TheraCup — On-the-Go Recovery A convenient, portable option when I want something quick and easy to use. It combines cupping with heat and vibration, making it a great option to keep in your recovery toolkit. 🔥 Potential Benefits of Cupping: ✅ May help temporarily reduce muscle soreness and tension ✅ May provide short-term relief from certain types of pain ✅ Can help you feel more relaxed and loosen up tight areas ✅ May temporarily improve local blood flow to the treated area ✅ Can be a useful addition to your overall recovery routine Whether you’re hitting the gym, running miles, training for a Spartan race, or just dealing with everyday muscle tightness, recovery deserves a spot in your routine! 👇 Here are the two options: 🔗 Full Cupping Set: https://a.co/d/0f5Oaxkf 🔗 Portable Therabody TheraCup: https://www.therabody.com/products/theracup?variant=44183233134819 Pick the option that fits your lifestyle and recovery needs! ⚠️ Cupping can cause temporary circular marks, bruising, or skin irritation. Evidence for many claimed benefits is limited, so it’s best viewed as a complementary recovery tool rather than a replacement for proper training, sleep, and nutrition.
