👋 Welcome to Process Mining Academy
If you’re here, you’ve probably realized something already: Building dashboards in Celonis is easy. Delivering real value with Celonis is not. This community exists for one reason: 👉 to learn how Celonis is actually used in real process mining projects — beyond demos, beyond happy paths, beyond screenshots. What this community is (and isn’t) This IS: - Practical, hands-on process mining with Celonis - Real event logs, real use cases, real constraints - Focus on why processes behave the way they do - Translating Celonis insights into business decisions This is NOT: - A Celonis Academy replacement - Vendor marketing or feature announcements - “Look at my dashboard” posts without context - Theory without execution What we’ll work on together Inside the community, we’ll cover things like: - How to structure Celonis analyses that actually answer business questions - Common mistakes in data modeling and interpretation - How to go from Process Explorer → insights → actions - How to explain findings to business stakeholders - What matters (and what doesn’t) in real Celonis projects 👉 First action (do this now) Reply to this post with: 1. Your background (student, consultant, analyst, ops, etc.) 2. Your experience level with Celonis 3. One challenge you’re facing or one thing you want to learn This will help me tailor the content and discussions to what you actually need. Welcome to Process Mining Academy —where we learn Celonis the practical way 🚀
BI vs Process Mining (and why this matters in Celonis)
Many people come into process mining from a Business Intelligence background — and that’s not a bad thing. But BI and process mining answer very different questions. Business Intelligence focuses on: - Aggregated data - KPIs and averages - “What happened last month?” - Reporting and monitoring In BI, a statement like: "Average cycle time = 12 days" is usually considered enough. Process Mining focuses on: - Event-level data - End-to-end flows - Variants and deviations - “Why does the process behave this way?” In Celonis, that same statement becomes: Here are 27 different paths — and 40% of cases loop because of rework. That difference is critical. BI tells you what happened.Process mining shows you how it actually happened — case by case. This is also why many first Celonis projects struggle: - Dashboards look good - KPIs are green - But no one knows what to change Real value starts when you move from: 📊 reporting KPIs➡️ 🔍 understanding process behavior➡️ 🎯 deciding where to act 💬 Let’s discuss If you’ve worked with BI before: - What was hardest for you when switching to process mining? - What confused you most in your first Celonis project?
