Part 1:

I’ve always been late to the social media party when it comes to claiming my name. There’s another Adrienne Potts out there who, without fail, beat me to every handle.

So when I heard about a new “trending platform,” I quickly grabbed my handles, congratulated myself on being ahead for once, and promptly forgot all about it.

[𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫...]

I’m driving my princess home after she called for a pickup, avoiding an uncomfortable situation with her friends. Proud mom moment—she trusted me.

As we’re chatting, she mentions that one of the moms involved might even have an OnlyFans account.

🗣️ Me: Oh, me too!

🗣️ Her: WHAT?!

🗣️ Me: I have an OnlyFans account too.

🗣️ Her: STOP SAYING THAT!

🗣️ Me: Why? What’s wrong?

🗣️ Her: It’s… MOM, it’s... you know. THAT kind of site.

Cue my full-body freeze. I’m driving, trying to process what "THAT kind of site" means, while her mortified expression tells me everything I need to know. Hell, at that point I'm mortified too!

I pull over, scrambling through a password reset and pure humiliation… account #1? Deleted.

Back on the highway, it hits me.

🗣️ Me: Wait… I think I made a second account.

🗣️ Her: OH. MY. GOD. MOM!

🗣️ Me: One for my screen name and one for my legal name. Ya know, cover the bases!

🗣️ Her: MOM, HOW DO YOU EVEN EXIST RIGHT NOW?!

I pull over again, delete the second account, and breathe a sigh of relief—though I'm sure my girl will never look at me the same again!💃

It wasn't just embarrassing—it was a mirror reflecting my missteps.

No purpose. No real intention. Just a desperate dash to “get ahead.”

And while funny in hindsight, it brought a sobering reminder:

Without clear aim, movement is mistaken for progress. Thoughtless decisions don’t create momentum—they create chaos. Without clarity, we lose focus and begin to drift off course.

It made me rethink my autopilot actions, arbitrary deadlines, and realize it was time for a purposeful pivot!
