Japanese VS English
Japanese vs English Pokémon cards—it’s not really about which is “better,” it’s about what game you’re playing.
Japanese is where seasoned collectors often start. Print quality is cleaner, promos hit harder, and cards usually release earlier—so you’re getting ahead of the wave. It’s also way easier to source at scale if you know the right suppliers, which means better margins and more flexibility.
If you’re trying to build inventory, flip, or position early… Japanese just makes more sense, in the current market where there is a huge English supply crunch
English, though, is where the mass market lives. It’s more liquid, more familiar, and when hype hits, this is where prices can explode fast. If something becomes mainstream, English usually benefits the most because that’s what the broader audience buys.
So the real answer? The people doing this well aren’t choosing one—they’re using both strategically.
