Your Friends Are Secretly Waiting for Someone to Just Make the Plan. Be That Person
Let me tell you something I've watched happen over and over again for more than 22 years. People want to get together. ....they really do......they talk about it all the time. "We should do something soon." "Let's plan a night out." "It's been too long, we need to hang." ....and then nothing happens. Not because nobody cares. But because nobody picks up the phone and actually makes the plan. That gap right there? That's your opening. Here's the truth most people never act on: your friends are not waiting for a perfect event. ....they are waiting for YOU to just say here's the date, here's the place, be there." That's it. That is the whole thing. You don't need a venue. You don't need a budget. You don't need a theme. You need a date and a group chat. Pick a day. Any day two or three weeks out. Text ten people something like this: "I'm putting something together on the 19th. Could be a backyard hang, could be a park thing, could be somebody's rooftop. You in?" That's all it takes to get momentum moving! Watch what happens next. Someone says yes. Then someone else does. Then the person who was on the fence sees the replies coming in and suddenly they're in too. Energy is contagious. The moment you become the one who made the plan, people want to be part of it. ....I have done this NUMEROUS times when I was in San Francisco...and peopel LOVE to FEEL that they ALSO are part of "making it happen"... And here's what you're actually building when you do this. You're not just throwing a casual hang. You're starting to build a reputation as the person who brings people together. That reputation is worth more than any flyer, any ad, any fancy venue deal. People remember the person who created the room. Start with what you already have. A backyard works. A local park works. A friend with a big living room works. The location matters way less than you think. What matters is that you committed to a date and you put it out there. Make it dead simple for people to say yes.

What is COOL About You: A Great Icebreaker in any community...what about in yours?
So, guys/gals... what I think would be great is to Know a little about each other... ....Especially things that are UNIQUE and COOL about YOU. What do you say we share some things that we normally don't share in a typical networking conversation? It could be things you do for a hobby, or things you're passionate about, or things you've achieved in your life that you're proud of or that's unique. ...it could be Anything.... .....and HERE you are also allowed to BRAG a "little" And I'll start. ;-) 1. In the Norwegian Army, I trained dogs for obedience. I was in the K9 unit, and I became one of the top two K9 trainers there when I was there. Ps. I also CARE DEEPLY for dogs, especially Stray Dogs that I encounter when I visit Mumbai, India with my wife. 2. As a hobby, I played competitive Footbag Net, or Hacky Sack as many people call it in the USA. It's basically a tiny little ball that we kick back and forth over a badminton net, on the exact same size as a badminton court. I became number two in the World in doubles and number three in singles, and it took me eight years to reach that level. PS. in the picture below you see me in the final... I am the one wearing blue shorts. Kenny Shultz "kicked my ASS" in this game...but he also had 42 World Titles to his Name by that time ;-)...So I lost with Honor ;-) 3. Also, as a hobby, I started organizing social events in San Francisco, and I became one of the biggest party promoters there. One time, I had 5,000 people at my Halloween ball at San Francisco City Hall, and even founders of Hotmail and PayPal would attend my parties. SO... TELL US ABOUT YOU?

Most promoters focus on the night of the event. The BEST promoters win or lose WEEKS before anyone walks through the door. After 22 years organizing San Francisco events here's what I did in advance EVERY SINGLE TIME: - Know your BREAKEVEN numbers before anything else….if you don't know your numbers you don't have a business - Walk the venue PERSONALLY….check toilets, AC, stages, lighting, parking, safety - Brief your security team on EXACTLY where to be stationed and what to watch for - Tell your photographers SPECIFICALLY what shots to take….line outside, dance floor energy, sponsors in frame, DJ in action, VIP section - Have your check-in system TESTED before doors open….QR codes, wristbands, guest list backup copies - Confirm your door team knows the system….who's paid, who's VIP, who's guest list - Have a sign at the entrance about photos being taken and consent - Plan your NEXT event before this one happens….announce it while the energy is high ….𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐱𝐲…. ….𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬…. What's ONE thing you always do before an event to make sure it runs smooth? Would love to hear what works for you.
