18 Lessons from this Past Week
This past week I taught a clinic for 12+ hours, played 72 holes of golf and competed in a 2 man best ball. Here’s what I learned: 1. Golf is hard 2. Golf is magical 3. I myself have come a long way as a player 4. You need reps to know what mistakes not to make anymore 5. You will still make mistakes 6. Your misses get better, but the frustration of missing stings regardless of how good or bad the misses are. 7. What I love about golf is not about the scoring as much as I thought… 8. I love the magical moments of golf 9. I love being present in my body when I play and helping people be present in their bodies 10. I want to feel productive even when I am on the golf course 11. Golfing in the context of competition with others is invigorating 12. Golfing with better players than you can be both inspiring and embarrassing. 13. Golfing with better players makes you play better. 14. “Feel” comes and goes… 15. What ball you play with matters…a lot 16. I don’t really want to play golf casually. 17. I feel like I am at a fork in the road - whether to double down or pivot… 18. I hate the idea of giving up… Even though part of me wants to give up and hates that missing a 5 footer matters to me...it does. I'm stoking the flames of my passion for golf. I am going to let it burn.
