Who’s Been Practicing?
Went to the range today for the first time in a good while! And my swing felt great. How’s everyone’s game looking and what are you working on?

It was nice to swing the sticks today a little bit. Despite not having swung in a month, the effortless speed was still there ;). That's why we hit the gym! Who has been hitting the simulator this winter? Who's been getting stronger?

(No) Time to Practice (?)!
One of my favorite ways to do low cost/low effort/low time high return practice is to grab your highest lofted wedge and your favorite brand of ball and juggle away. 10-15 mins a day will do wonders for your hand-club-eye coordination, and 20-30 mins shows your true commitment to really shave strokes when you’re trying to push lower into the single digit handicap realm. My basic recommendation is to try and set a new record every day, and at some point you’ll be able to go infinitely long (up to the point of your grip strength, at least!). You will start to get a visceral feeling of how the ball launches off different parts of the club face with different levels of energy and start to gain mastery over one of the most used clubs in your bag. P.S. If you want a fuller breakdown of how to get started from 0, DM or text me and I’ll put the time into making a video and link it to the classroom!

Real Life
Let's be honest. Golf is not real life. For a long time, I fought that... But now that I have accepted the idea that it ISN'T everything, now it can be what it is. A beautiful thing, that just so happens to take over 4 hours to play, plus countless hours of practice and preparation to be any good. Oh and plenty of $. But that is what it is. It's something that can be all consuming, and often is. And it can be a way to simply engage our minds and bodies and be in companionship. Scores don't mean anything. Unless you make them mean something. What is real life, then? Providing something to the world, not in an abstract way but to real people. Addressing what matters to them. In other words, sacrificing oneself and ones own selfish desires in order to actually step up and be more to other people than you are to yourself. That's my take, at least. Both golf, and real life, is a type of game, wherein the one who is most righteous doesn't always win, but one must couple righteousness and diligence with humility, long time horizons, a short term memory of misfortune, and appreciation for the blessings they receive. And a sense of wonder doesn't hurt either.
Goals During Offseason?
Hey y'all, I'm curious what has been your priority this past winter? Is it golf related and if so something specific? I've been hard core working on my financial fitness this fall/winter and it has been paying off - literally. After years and years of being in a hole of debt I finally paid the last of it off this past December. I have been following Dave Ramsey's Baby Steps and I have become a new person. With that, I barely touched a club during November or December. I hit a few balls the other day at the simulator and a big grin spread across my face just getting to experience the sensation and opportunity of being able to play golf (and to do it well despite the time off). I also spent several weeks improving my cardiovascular fitness over the holidays, something that I'd been wanting to do for a long time, in order to reduce my resting heart rate, and indeed my average resting heart rate has dropped by 5 BPM over the last two months. I am attaching my protocol here, I hope you use it to crush your goals! May God make himself known to each of you in this new year, Amen!
