On my Easel - Winter Without Snow is One of my Favourite Things to Paint.
Hey Artists
I've just posted a new video below giving you a look at where we're at with our current painting in Sam's Art School, and honestly, I'm loving how it's coming together.
We've got bare winter trees, that stripped-back skeletal quality you only get when the leaves are gone. A field with sheep catching some beautiful light. And behind it all, dark, brooding mountains sit deep in shadow. The contrast is everything.
The whole painting is really an exercise in capturing winter colour, and winter colour is so much more interesting than people give it credit for.
It's not grey and dead, it's subtle, it's warm against cool, it's all about finding the light hiding in the landscape.

I walk you through my process so far and show you exactly where we're headed with it.
And the good news? We're not done yet.
