Your hook is 80% of your ad's success. Get this wrong and nothing else matters. After analyzing thousands of winning ads across 250+ DTC brands, I've found that the best hooks do one of these 5 things: š. šš®š¹š¹ š¼šš š® šš½š²š°š¶š³š¶š° š®šš±š¶š²š»š°š² ā "[Target audience], stop scrolling ā this is your answer to [problem]" ā "If you're a [target audience] that struggles with [problem], stop scrolling" ā "Hey [target audience], you need to see this" š®. šš²š®š± šš¶ššµ š® šÆš¼š¹š± š°š¹š®š¶šŗ ā "[Product] that feels illegal to know" ā "I just made my life 10x easier with [product]" ā "In [amount] weeks, you won't recognize yourself" šÆ. š¦šµš¼š š® š½š®ššš²šæš» š¶š»šš²šæšæšš½š ā "[Strange visual of product or problem]" ā "This'll sound weird but hear me outā¦" ā "The weirdest product I just found on TikTok" š°. šš“š¶šš®šš² š® š½š®š¶š» š½š¼š¶š»š ā "I've hated my [problem] for 15 years" ā "[Problem] making it hard to go anywhere?" ā "Keep scrolling if you enjoy having [problem]" š±. šØšš² šš¼š°š¶š®š¹ š½šæš¼š¼š³ š¶šŗšŗš²š±š¶š®šš²š¹š ā "Why is everyone talking about [product]?" ā "I keep seeing this [product] all over my feed so I had to try it" ā "Everyone keeps asking me about how I [desired outcome]" The best hooks use one or more of these patterns in the first 3 seconds. Not all ads with great hooks scale. But all ads that scale have great hooks.
