Interview Tip
During the OYS event in Laguna Hills on July 20th, something important that I took from the mock interview portion at the end was the importance of wording your responses. As I am just beginning EMT school, I did not have much certifications to list to explain why I was qualified for the job. I began to list my different skills and experiences that I’ve accumulated so far, to then tie it back to how it fits with the fire service. It could be something as simple as playing a sport or working in a group setting, but they key point is to explain how it fits with the fire service with reasons such as collectively working together as a team to achieve a common goal on a structure fire call. This is a tip I’ve heard from different people that can be very helpful with getting the most amount of points during an oral interview.
