When to do outreach
So I've gotten the question a couple of times about when you should start reaching out to colleges.
I released a video in the Pathways classroom that really goes in depth about this process. Go watch it
This will only apply to the Highschool ballers specifically. As far as my internationals and My already collegiate players looking to transfer. I will make a separate post and video explaining that process.
So to make this a quick read. There is no right or wrong answer of when to reach out to colleges. But the best time to start reaching out is beginning of sophomore year, end of freshman year. So 9th & 10th grade. This is because this gives you plenty of time to be in a system or on a radar, and with consistency coaches may see your name more than once. Which if you're a good player, you'll stand out.
Colleges plan 1-2 years in advance for their teams. Which means if you dont start reaching out until Junior or Senior year (like me lol) You'll most likely get overlooked. This is because they already found their players and offered/signed players from that graduating class. Not saying if you do wait, you won't get seen or signed. But why would you hinder yourself like that when you can start right now. You probably won't receive an offer until junior/senior year. But you would've already done 2 years of just outreach and messaging coaches that message you back and just building relationships. All while keeping them updated on your progress as an athlete.
So reach out the sooner the better. Go to the pathways classroom and build your CV's, Highlight Video, and Use the email template I provided. Use those all as starting points!
