Doctor Visits for knee pain
Okay so I got a question the other day from one of my players and he has knee pain. We've pretty much determined he has patellar tendinopathy but he was asking me if a doctor visit is worth it. Now before I get started, yes, doctors do help and doctors are always worth a visit. Just keep in mind that doctor visits are there to help fix the problem; the way it is now. They're not there to strengthen it. They're not going to give you a program; they're going to give you some medicine; they might give you an ointment; they might give you a brace for whatever may be. They're not going to actually go through the process of rebuilding your knee and trying to figure out why it is the way it is and what's actually going wrong.
Yes, doctor visits do help when there is severe pain and if something's torn, of course go see the doctors. If it is broken, of course we see the doctor. Just keep in mind that to actually get the knee stronger and to rebuild it, you have to follow a program. That's why I'm building the program into the recovery classroom. I'm using programming from Dr. Aaron Horshig, Dr. Kevin Sonthana, and from my own programming I use while playing overseas. That's getting released this week. Just keep in mind that doctor visits are helpful but they're only there to solve the pain now. They're not there to solve the long-term problem, which is getting your knee stronger.
So make sure you check out the Recovery Classroom for the knee programming
