The Major Arcana
Every Tarot card deck consists of 78 cards. The Major Arcana are the first 22 and they represent the major milestones of our lives
The word "arcana' is Latin meaning secrets, so the Major Arcana represent the "greater secrets" of life. They show the ' bigger picture' of life, from birth, education, work, marriage, all the way to life's completion, or death
Many also hold the belief.they represent the "Fool's" (your and mine) journey. If you study these cards you will get a feel for just how accurate this interpretation is. Each card is assigned a number, each number holds a vibration, a deeper meaning.

Here they are, from 1 - 21 (written in Roman Numerals style). Traditional decks, like the Rider Waite cards seem here, use this style of numbering
