A quick tip for protecting skin in incontinent patients 👇🏾
Back when I was working as a CNA, one of the biggest lessons I learned (and still use as a wound care physician today) was this: Don’t wait for the redness to show up. Apply barrier cream before the skin breaks down. Especially with patients who have frequent loose stools or limited mobility, prevention saves a lot of pain later. I’m curious - if you were on clinicals and had a patient with incontinence, what would be your first step to protect their skin?
