“Basics”
Because "basic" makes people think something you grow out of. Something boring Something you leave behind as you get "better." So people start chasing advanced techniques, flashy moves, and more complicated systems. But the truth is the most effective movements in Jiu Jitsu are still the ones called the basics. The vast majority of your training should be spent on high value, proven, repeatable movements - the kind that work when your tired or when your opponent is bigger or more athletic. Because under pressure, you will fall back on what you mastered. The basics aren't basic They're EVERYTHING

Fundamentals at the highest level
This week we are going to focus on fundamentals being applied at the highest level of combat sports… My favorite examples of these are Sean Strickland for striking, and Roger Gracie for Jiu Jitsu. Both of these athletes take “basic” fundamental moves that you’ll learn within your first few months of training, and apply them at the highest level to win world championships… Everyone makes fun of Strickland for “jabbing & teeping” his way to victory… For Roger Gracie everybody makes fun of his “basic” cross collar choke from full mount… Timing is everything… “A right move at the wrong time, is the wrong move”

What is a fundamental?
I think there’s a misconception surrounding fundamentals, especially nowadays… Most people think of it as “the most basic” set of moves that you learn once and move on… But I would rather you think of fundamentals as “the most important, most effective, or highest percentage” moves/techniques that requires continuous refinement throughout your whole lifetime… 🤓 💪 👑

Welcome/Intro
I’m glad you’re here. This community was built for busy adults and dedicated kids who want real progress in No-Gi Jiu Jitsu without needing to train 6 days a week. This is a fundamentals-first space rooted in the 10th Planet system, but focused on what actually works: - 🧠 Clear positional understanding - 🤼‍♂️ Wrestling entries that make sense for Jiu Jitsu - 🦵 Safe, controlled leglock foundations - 🔁 Transitions that connect your game - 📈 Simple systems you can build on for years No fluff. No move collecting. No ego. What To Expect Here - A core position or system - Key entries and transitions - Common mistakes (and how to fix them) - Live or posted Q&A breakdowns The goal is simple: Help you build a game not just learn techniques. How To Get The Most Out Of This Group 1. Introduce yourself in the comments 👇 Where you train How long you’ve been training What you struggle with most 2. Engage. Ask questions. Post clips (if allowed at your academy). 3. Pick one focus at a time. Don’t try to learn everything at once. Consistency beats intensity.
