The official introduce yourself thread
Welcome to the Nekokana community. If you are new here, please post a response to this thread to introduce yourself. A great place to start is to talk about any history that you might have with studying Japanese. If you haven't started, that's okay, this community welcomes people who are just starting on their journey. Another thing to talk about is if you've ever been to Japan or if you have any aspirations to go. Finally, feel free to bring up any interests or hobbies that you have outside of Japanese related things. I look forward to getting to know all of you, and have enjoyed sharing a little bit of myself!
Setting up courses
This community is still officially in pre-release state as I get things set up. One of the courses that I'm very excited to offer here involves lessons designed to help learn Japanese through music. This can take many forms including karaoke and the music found in anime. Keep an eye on this section for more information as it becomes available!

Delicious Okonomiyaki in Himeji
One of my favorite things about traveling to Japan is the food. This was a delicious okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) that I had during one of my trips in 2023.

Water and Ice
This is a great example of how immersion helps to learn. This machine was in my capsule hotel in Tokyo and the English made it clear what it was for. However, that helped me to notice the kanji for water and ice, and how similar they were to each other. Every time I went to refill my drink, it was an opportunity to remember. Water: Mizu (水) Ice: Koori (氷)
