Kingdom Discipleship: "Follow Me"
Luke 9:23 "Then He said to them all: 'Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me.'" Jesus gives us three clear requirements for anyone who desires to become His disciple. Discipleship isn't simply believing in Jesus—it's becoming like Him. 1. Deny Yourself What does it mean to deny yourself? It means asking an honest question every day: "Is what I want aligned with what Jesus wants?" Our flesh naturally craves comfort, control, recognition, and self-will. Yet Jesus calls us to surrender our own agenda so His purpose can become our priority. Every day we choose whether self will sit on the throne—or Christ. 2. Pick Up Your Cross Daily Notice Jesus didn't say to pick up your cross occasionally. He said daily. Discipleship isn't a Sunday activity; it's a daily decision. Every morning we intentionally embrace God's mission, His calling, and His assignment for our lives—even when obedience requires sacrifice. Your cross is not merely your burden. It is your commitment to faithfully follow Christ wherever He leads. 3. Follow Him The Greek word often translated "follow" (akoloutheō) means to walk in the same way as another—to accompany, imitate, and remain close behind. The goal of a disciple is not simply to know what Jesus taught. The goal is to live as Jesus lived. 👉🏽To think like He thought. 👉🏽To love like He loved. 👉🏽To serve like He served. 👉🏽To obey as He obeyed. In the first century, disciples walked so closely behind their rabbi that the dust from the rabbi's sandals would cover them. May we walk so closely with Jesus that His character, His priorities, and His purpose become evident in every area of our lives. Reflection Questions: - What area of self do I need to surrender today? - What cross is Jesus asking me to carry with faithfulness? - Am I merely believing in Jesus, or am I truly following Him? Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me to deny myself, faithfully carry my cross each day, and follow You so closely that my life reflects Your heart, Your character, and Your mission. Amen.
Kingdom Discipleship: "Follow Me"
🚶‍♂️ The Dust from the Rabbi Luke 9:23
"Then He said to them all, 'Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Me.'" In the first century, disciples followed their rabbi so closely that people would say they were "covered in the dust of their rabbi." It wasn't just about learning information—it was about walking so closely with the teacher that your life began to look like his. Jesus extends that same invitation today. Not to admire Him from a distance. Not to simply attend church. Not to collect Bible knowledge. But to follow Him. Following Jesus means allowing His words to shape your thinking, His character to transform your heart, and His mission to become your assignment. Every day we have a choice: - Deny ourselves. - Pick up our cross. - Follow the Rabbi. The question isn't, "Do I believe in Jesus?" The deeper question is, "Am I close enough to Jesus that the dust of the Rabbi is on my life?" This week in Momentum Marketplace Ministries, we're beginning a journey through Luke 9:23 and discovering what authentic Kingdom discipleship really looks like. 💬 Discussion Question: What is one area of your life where Jesus is inviting you to follow Him more closely? Share your thoughts below. Let's encourage one another as we pursue Christ together. #MomentumMarketplaceMinistries #KingdomDiscipleship #Luke923 #FollowJesus #TheDustFromTheRabbi #FaithInTheMarketplace #KingdomMen #SkoolCommunity

🚶‍♂️ The Dust from the Rabbi Luke 9:23
🧹 Shake the Dust Off
One of the most freeing lessons Jesus ever taught His disciples is found in Luke 9:5: "If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them." Jesus was teaching His disciples that rejection is inevitable—but carrying rejection is optional. Too many people allow one closed door, one unanswered prayer, one failed opportunity, one broken relationship, or one "no" to define their future. Jesus said, don't carry it. Shake the dust off and keep moving. Your assignment is greater than your disappointment. As Kingdom men and women, we are called to remain faithful, not popular. We are responsible for our obedience, not everyone else's response. Don't let yesterday's rejection rob you of today's purpose. This Week's Kingdom Challenge Before you go to bed tonight, ask yourself: - What rejection am I still carrying? - Is there disappointment I need to surrender to God? - What assignment have I delayed because of fear or past failure? Then pray: "Father, I choose to shake the dust off. I release every rejection, disappointment, offense, and closed door to You. Cleanse my heart, strengthen my faith, and help me walk boldly into the next assignment You've prepared for me. I choose to carry my cross—not my rejection. In Jesus' name, Amen." Remember this: Don't carry the dust. Carry the mission. 👇 I'd love to hear from you. What "dust" has God been calling you to shake off so you can move forward in your Kingdom assignment?
