🥊 Week 2 – Video 2: Layering Strikes & Takedowns — Same Setup, New Dimensions
In this session, we take our striking setups to the next level by showing how the same core concept applies across all phases — standing and on the ground. 🎯 We’re not just throwing to land — we’re throwing to create reactions. And now, we add a layer: Use strikes to set up takedowns, and use takedown threats to bring the hands up and open striking lanes. But it doesn’t stop there. 🟫 On the ground, we apply the same principle of attacking different levels — mixing body shots, head strikes, and positional threats to draw predictable reactions. Just like on the feet, the goal is to manipulate your opponent’s defense and stay one step ahead. 🔄 The Drill: - Fighter A works to get both hands connected — using strikes, feints, and level changes to close distance and enter clean. - He alternates between genuine entries and striking setups to keep the defender guessing. - Fighter B defends the entries and works to manage distance with striking, staying composed under pressure. 🧠 This drill sharpens your ability to flow between striking and grappling, and to weaponize the threat itself — no matter the range or position.
