New Project?
Just found this guy on YouTube who made the simplest homemade CNC build I’ve ever seen. He uses a granite slab as the base and a thick steel piece bent to 90 degrees as the Z-axis. In another video he talks about the play in the machine, I linked the rigidity test and showcase videos below. For what it is, the thing seems surprisingly stable, even with some 3D-printed parts. i assume the build costs a bit under $1000, which looks like a way better deal than most off the shelf machines you can get at that price. Definitely got me interested in trying something like this once I can budget for it. Let me know what you think! Quick Update!
Hey guys, I haven’t posted in here for a bit and finally got the time to give a quick update. I’ve been working on some orders recently. Sadly, I can’t share much in terms of visuals due to an NDA, but it’s been going great. I’ve completed a couple of orders through a platform called Xometry, where I provide 3D printing services. It’s been pretty profitable for me. Recently, I also learned that one of the customers I served through Xometry was a massive precision machining company called Mapal. On top of that, I’ve been working on some cold outreach to get more clients. I’ll share more as soon as I have some results from that!
LinuxCNC
I am trying to get my pi5 to communicate with a teensy 4.1 over SPI so i can have LinuxCNC send info over to the Teensy to tell it which motors to move, been having some trouble with it though since the SPI interface did not work whatsoever on the Pi5 running debian, not using raspian since its not RT, if anyone has any clue what i can do please let me know, i've been reading forums for LinuxCNC and SPI but i just cant get the hang of it yet, any help would be appreciated Link to latest forum page i was reading through: https://www.forum.linuxcnc.org/10-advanced-configuration/32050-serial-peripheral-interface
Clasroom Tab
Hey guys, I’ve got an idea for the classroom tab. I’m not planning on making courses or anything like that anytime soon since I wouldn’t call myself a professional or anything close to that, I’m still pretty new to the game. What I would like to do is compile a bunch of resources, organize them into categories, and use the classroom tab as a library where everything manufacturing and automation related can be stored. Do you like that idea? If so, what categories would you most like to see?
