I shared the following on my FB page, but certainly felt it important to share here too:
This film clip made me laugh, cry, and feel a sense of peace.
I was my grandmother’s primary caregiver during hospice care. There are parts of me that can resonate with every character in this scene, but most of all with the nurse.
Being intimately inches away from a loved one, holding their hand as they draw their last breath, it does something to you. Being so close to death, my loved one’s death, someone I cherish/ed beyond measure, brought me so much closer to life.
Being someone’s “person” during their transition, I believe is the most sacred privilege. I would definitely consider being a death doula. In my practice, I focus so much on how to live one’s best life. How incredible would it be to help someone die their best death?
Maybe I’m a tad morbid sometimes…my personality isn’t for everyone, but compassion and love is a universal language we can all learn to be better at.
The show is called “Dying for Sex”
I haven’t watched it, but this clip on Facebook resonated.
