Tensegrity
is a structural principle that creates SELF-SUPPORTING, stable structures using tension created by opposing natural forces in compression with a continuous network of tensioning elements which looks like like this so the chains on the four corners are all fighting against one another but have enough tension to not be pulled one way or another these four chains maintain its stability horizontally or side to side while the “strength” chain is the one in the center this chain bears the load vertically and as you see the top half is connected to the bottom half from below this creates the tension needed to keep the outside 4 chains from slacking and the whole structure collapsing
