Searching for Aloe Vera Gel
Does anyone know of a good supplier (either in Australia or that ships internationally) that sells a good certified organic Aloe Vera Gel that MUST be food safe and therefore can be used internally?
I am trying to find an Aloe Vera Gel that can be used for Aromatic Oral Care preparations.
I know the best to use is freshly harvested Aloe Vera leaf; however, this is not really a viable option in a clinical setting where you may need a good amount of aloe gel there and then, and don't have the time to harvest fresh gel, or potentially, you don't have the space to grow enough Aloe Vera that you need.
So far, all the aloe vera gels I am coming across are cosmetic grade or contain filler ingredients.
Personally, I would love to have an organic food-grade aloe vera concentrate powder which I can then use as a hydrolat and a natural food-grade geling agent such as Xanthan gum or Agar-Agar, as they don't contain water and therefore have a relatively long shelf life, so its really a good option I believe for students and those starting as they don't know when they will be using aloe, so having a powder that you can mix up over fresh aloe would be the better option to prevent wasting money of product that is not shelf stable (fresh aloe).
Note that this is the time frame it takes for RAW Aloe (harvested fresh that day from the inner leaf of the aloe without preservatives) to spoil:
- Room Temperature (18°-24°C): 1-2 days
- Refrigerator (0°-4°C): 3-4 weeks
- Freezer (-18°C): 1 Year.
The downside to freezing is that when you need the gel then and there, it can take anywhere between 10 minutes and 30+ minutes to thaw/melt.
