Perfume v Scent
I was marking a student's homework this morning for her Aromatic Alchemy course.
Just for some background:
What was interesting and got me thinking, was her description of Frangipani being a perfume.
We often talk about the scents of an EO being green, woodsy, spicy etc.
But a perfume? Isn't that when we smell an oil and we can't nail it into any particular group, it smells of a combination of oils.
For example, I can't help but describe Litsea Cubeba/May Chang as all the citruses all in one bottle.
Some of my other favourite "perfumes" are Blue Anemone, Cape Verbena and Emerald Seagrass.
Which EO's are a perfume to you and not just a "scent"?
