Here is the email I got from Hormozi this morning and it had the following title and text:
ALWAYS HAVE A GROUP:
No matter how much money you make this will apply to you.
I’ve been training/lifting weights for 22 years... which is wild to say.
I’ve been pretty much entirely self taught / taught from groups of guys I’ve trained with over the years.
My advancements in strength and size...
However, have been irregular.
There are years where I simply maintain.
Then punctuated periods where I gained tons of size and strength.
What’s interesting is that these periods always had three things in common:
- I had training partners
- We had a common goal
- We had a single shared methodology
It sounds really simple.
But it wasn’t until I looked in retrospect that I saw the pattern.
Each one served a specific purpose from a behavioral perspective...
Which I think is necessary to make progress.
1.Training partners give you immediate reward for showing up.
They raise your effort when they watch you, they give you live feedback, and if you have people the same or better than you - they model what “better” looks like.
And, if you have 2-3 partners, you get to live 3x the experience per session.
Way faster progress.
2. Common goal gives you measurement.
Essentially an ideal that allows you to measure yourself against so you can gauge progress, and make incremental progress.
And if your partner is making faster progress than you, it gives you a cue to push.
3.Shared methodology allows you to stay focused with zero decision fatigue or wasted time on other methodologies.
And since you’re doing it one way - there’s easy cause and effect you can attribute.
The same has been true for me in business.
These are the things that have given me the most progress over the years.
ALWAYS HAVE A GROUP
