a drummer to listen and learn from
I found a great resource for any Buddy Rich fans. If you aren't a fan, maybe you are, actually, and just don't realize it yet.
Mike has many, many uniquely sourced and well described recordings here. Its quite a listen, and especially awesome that many even list the recording equipment, who was doing the recording, and the setting.
Also, some articles for study, useful to drummers or those who wish to write drum parts:
"A series of articles and notes for those of you with an interest in arranging, transcribing, and composing music. Click here for the intro. (or look under the "Articles" menu at the top of any page)
Click here for a brief series of articles for drummers, including Drum "tuning", Musical forms, Transcribing, reading, and writing drum parts, Improvising, etc..
Click here for a brief series of articles on the subject of live recording.
Enjoy!
