Master High Leverage Activities (HLAs)
What are HLAs?
High leverage activities are tasks that yield an long-lasting impact compared to the time and energy invested in them. They are actions that produce exponential results rather than a 1-to-1 return.
Examples:
• Planning and strategizing: Define your goals and create a roadmap. Like mapping out a road trip, it saves time and stress in the long run.
• Building relationships: Nurture connections that can lead to new opportunities. Think of it like planting seeds that'll grow into fruitful collaborations.
• Learning and skill-building: Invest in yourself. It's like upgrading your tools to build better things.
• Automating repetitive tasks: Set it and forget it.
• Hiring help: Like hiring a househelp if you can afford it. Save time, buy freedom. It's about buying back your time for what matters(I learned this from Nemrah).
• Developing assets: Build things that generate value over time, like creating content, investing in skills, or building a personal brand. You're the asset,so invest in yourself.
Like Hormozi said, "I am the asset I am investing in."
Personal Growth HLAs:
Reading regularly: Expand knowledge and perspective
Exercise routine: Boost energy and mental clarity
Mindfulness practice: Reduce stress, increase focus
Journaling: Reflect and gain insights
Skill acquisition: Learn a new language, coding, etc.
Identifying HLAs:
1. Ask: What's the one thing I can do today that will have the biggest impact in future?
2. Focus on tasks aligning with long-term goals.
3. Consider tasks with recurring benefits.
Prioritizing HLAs:
1. Use Eisenhower Matrix: Focus on Important but Not Urgent (Quadrant 2)
2. Allocate specific time slots.
3. Delegate or automate non-essential tasks.
And the most important HLA is investing in your deen. Investing in your deen is truly a game changer for your life. It's about building something that lasts for eternity, something truly invaluable. Think about the immense reward and peace that comes with it. Ultimately, nothing compares to the prospect of Jannah. It's the ultimate investment with the greatest return imaginable.
