What is a Mental Model?
A mental model is a way of understanding how the world works. To understand and solve different problems, we use different mental models (different ways of thinking)
Can we use multiple mental models at the same time?
Yes. This is called a latticework of mental models, which means using different mental tools together at the same time.
Examples of Mental Models
- Education: We first understand basic formulas and then use them to solve bigger and more complex problems.
- Business & Career:We enter businesses that we understand and avoid those we do not understand.
- Relationships:When a problem appears, we try to understand what the other person is going through instead of labeling them as bad.
- Health & Fitness:Small efforts, when done consistently, lead to big results.
How are mental models developed?
Mental models are built by studying different fields, observing how things work, and then applying that learning to our own lives.
