Yesterday, I had a long conversation with a close friend.
He’s handling the social media for one of his projects.
The client was satisfied, but there was no “wow” factor no appreciation, no excitement. That really bothered his team.
He reached out to me and said:
“Yar, come on board with me on this project and help redesign the social media for this client.”
I shared some of my design samples with him, and he genuinely liked the direction.
Then we talked about budget.
He already has his own team, but he isn’t fully satisfied with the results.
At the same time, he couldn’t spend much because they’re doing this mainly for client satisfaction, not profit.
I shared the market rates with him.
He got worried and said:
“Yar, itnay mein nahi ho sakay ga. Hum to sirf client ko khush rakhne ke liye kar rahe hain.”
He’s a good friend, and I know if I support him now, he’ll remember me in future projects.
This experience will also help me grow my portfolio and profile.
My first quoted rate was 75k, but the budget just wasn’t there.
So I decided to take the call.
I booked the project at 30k per month for 30 designs.
Yes, I know it’s less. But sometimes, you don’t work just for money
you work to enter the right circle, build trust, and create future opportunities.
Not every win is about numbers. Some wins are about positioning yourself for what comes next.
