Today, after a long time, I'm finally active again and writing in my journal.
I was in Lahore for almost a month, and a lot happened during that time. I laughed, cried, made memories, and experienced so many things that completely changed me. But if there's one thing I can say, it's this: the Noor who went to Lahore is not the same Noor who came back.
Before this trip, I had never traveled more than 1 or 2 kilometers alone. Other than riding a rickshaw, I had never used any local public transport. But in Lahore, I managed everything by myself—Metro Bus, Orange Line, everything. I had never gone shopping alone for myself before, but I did that too.
One thing I've always been scared of is crossing roads, yet I faced that fear as well. People think I'm very extroverted, and I am—but only until I have to talk to strangers. The moment I have to ask someone for directions or start a conversation with someone I don't know, I get really anxious. In Lahore, I had to do that too, and somehow, I managed.
I'm not used to staying at other people's homes, but I did that. I'm used to living in a big house, so adjusting to a smaller home wasn't easy at first, but I still adapted. I've never been comfortable sleeping on the floor, yet I did that too.
There were so many things I experienced for the very first time, and honestly, I loved every bit of it. One of the biggest milestones was traveling alone from Lahore to Multan by bus for the very first time. I was nervous, scared, and overthinking everything, but I did it anyway. I guess I'm growing up faster than I expected and slowly learning how to do things on my own.
The thing I'm most proud of is that I stayed in Lahore for almost an entire month, and not even once did I ask my parents for money. My father only sent me 1,000 rupees on the last day. Other than that, I managed everything on my own, and that makes me incredibly proud.
I reached my city at around 4:30. My baba was at work, so he couldn't come to pick me up from the bus station. I took a rickshaw by myself and came home on my own. I was completely exhausted, so I slept from that night until the next afternoon.
After waking up, I helped with the housework. I washed the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and later went out with my friend. We spent some quality time together at the park. After coming home, I prayed Maghrib, and now I'm going to watch my lectures. Insha'Allah, from now on I'll attend my lectures every day and continue working consistently.
This trip wasn't just about visiting Lahore. It was about discovering a version of myself I never knew existed. And I think... I'm really proud of the person I'm becoming.
