Passing and Playmaking
Most players can pass…
But very few can actually create for others.
Playmaking isn’t just about throwing the ball — it’s about:
Timing. Vision. Decision-making. Pressure.
These 10 drills build all of it 👇
1. Wall Passing Series
Work on passing directly out of moves (cross, between, behind). This builds your ability to create and deliver passes without stopping — just like in real game situations.
2. Pivot Passing
Catch, get into a strong base, and pivot before passing. This improves footwork, helps you create better angles, and reduces turnovers under pressure.
3. Target Accuracy
Pick a small spot on the wall and hit it consistently. Focus on chest, bounce, and one-hand passes. This builds elite-level precision and control.
4. Passing on the Move
Dribble at game speed and deliver passes without slowing down. This trains timing and simulates real offensive flow.
5. Reaction Drill
Use a tennis ball or quick cue, then immediately make a pass. This improves reaction time, vision, and decision-making speed.
6. 2-Ball Partner Passing
Both players pass at the same time. This forces quicker processing, better coordination, and stronger hands.
7. Moving Partner Passing
Pass while both players are moving (full court or side-to-side). Focus on leading your teammate and maintaining rhythm.
8. Give & Go
Pass, cut, and receive the ball back. This teaches you how to move after passing and create scoring opportunities.
9. Drive & Kick
Attack as if there’s help defense, then make the correct pass. This builds real-game reads and improves your ability to create open shots for teammates.
10. Wrap Pass Drill
Work on tight-space passing (wraps, pocket passes, hand-offs). This is huge for pick & roll situations and traffic reads.
If you want to become a true playmaker:
👉 Pass on time
👉 Pass on target
👉 Pass under pressure
Train like a pro.
