How bad do you REALLY want it? That’s the question.
When you get cut from the team, are you going to sulk about it, or are you going to find a way to stay around the program, get better, and earn another opportunity?
When you’re sitting on the bench, are you going to stay comfortable, crack jokes with your teammates, and accept your role? Or are you going to show up early, stay late, get extra reps, and give your coach a reason to put you in?
When someone takes your starting spot, are you going to get jealous and make excuses? Or are you going to work until that spot is yours again?
And when things get hard, when you’re tired, when you’re struggling, when nobody believes in you, when your friends are hanging out and you’re putting in extra work… WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Because EVERYBODY wants to be the star. Everybody wants the minutes, the recognition, the highlights, and the offers. But not everybody is willing to do what it takes when things don’t go their way.
YOUR CHARACTER ISN’T BUILT WHEN EVERYTHING IS GOING RIGHT. IT’S BUILT WHEN EVERYTHING IS GOING WRONG.
If you’re a high school hooper, understand this: your career isn’t over because you got cut. Your future isn’t decided because you’re riding the bench as a sophomore. And your dreams aren’t dead because you haven’t gotten that offer yet.
But you have to make a choice.
Are you going to let your circumstances define you, or are you going to find a way to get better despite them?
The players who make it aren’t always the most talented. They’re the ones who keep showing up, keep learning, keep improving, and refuse to let setbacks become excuses.
You can’t control everything that happens to you. But you CAN control how you respond.
SO, HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT?
Because if you really want it, your actions will show it. Not your words. Not your social media posts. Not what you tell your friends.
YOUR WORK. YOUR DISCIPLINE. YOUR RESPONSE WHEN THINGS GET HARD.
Let’s get to work. 🏀💯
