If you wanted to spend less this holiday season, what would you change first?
As a midwife in China, I don’t really have a holiday season, because I still need to work through most holidays. The longest break I usually get in a year is around ten days. So if I wanted to spend less during that period, the first thing I’d change is staying at home more and focusing on my English studies instead of going out.
Secondly, I’d stop ordering takeout and cook for myself. Since I spend a lot of time sleeping to recharge, I often feel lazy and unwilling to cook after I wake up, and that’s when I’m tempted to order food. However, ordering takeout usually costs much more than cooking at home. That’s why I prepare ingredients the night before — it reduces the temptation to order takeout and helps me eat more healthily while saving money.
