The joke:
Me: I'm terrified of random letters.
Therapist: You are?
Me: (screams)
Therapist: oh...I see...
Me: (screams intensifies)
The breakdown:
The person says: “I’m terrified of random letters.”
The therapist asks: “You are?”
But “you are” sounds exactly like the letters “U and R.”
So from the patient’s perspective:
The therapist just said random letters (“U and R”), which triggers their fear so they scream.
Then:
The therapist says: “Oh… I see…”
“Oh I see” sounds like the letters “O, I and C.”
So again the patient screams even louder.
