Getting to know our Founder/Chief Instructor Coach Herb Tanton, Jr, CEP
Herb Tanton Jr., CEP, is a nationally recognized combative tactics instructor, performance coach, and business consultant with over 40 years of experience in martial arts, strength and conditioning, and executive leadership. An undefeated professional fighter with an 11-0 MMA record and a 6-0-1 WKA kickboxing record, Herb brings real-world, pressure-tested experience to everything he teaches. He is a certified Jeet Kune Do Concepts instructor under Rick Faye and Burton Richardson, with over 920 hours of training under Guro Dan Inosanto. His credentials also include certifications in Filipino Kali/Panatukan and Muay Thai under Ajarn Chai, along with multiple black belts across traditional systems. As the Owner and Head Instructor of Undisputed JKD/Kali, Herb has built and operated eight martial arts schools across three states, developing programs that integrate combat effectiveness, performance training, and practical application. Herb has trained elite military units—including Navy SEALs, Army Rangers, and U.S. Special Forces—as well as FBI, DEA, ATF, and SWAT teams through MLEOTC-certified programs. His Urban Combative Tactics system now brings that same level of training to civilians and professionals seeking real-world self-protection. In addition to his combat credentials, Herb holds degrees in Kinesiology and Sports Nutrition and certifications from AFAA, ACE, and NASM. He has coached Olympic-level athletes, collegiate programs, and competitive bodybuilders, and has developed specialized programs for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological conditions. With more than 25 years of executive leadership experience, Herb has led teams of up to 200 employees and worked with top fitness brands including Orangetheory Fitness, Crunch Fitness, LA Fitness, and 24 Hour Fitness. His expertise spans business development, marketing strategy, sales leadership, and operational systems. Herb’s mission is to help individuals and organizations build strength, resilience, and real-world capability—physically, mentally, and professionally.

My Legacy
Hi TEAM! Thought I would post the martial arts I have been involved in. 40 years is a long time! I started in 1979 at the age of 16 years old, abusive family, so my martial arts instructor became my mentor and savor!
