Imagine walking into a jewellery shop and looking at a $5,000 watch. You’re interested. You’ve got questions. You’re already picturing the thing on your wrist. So you wave over the assistant… And instead of having a normal conversation, they point at a screen and say: “𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗜 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗯𝗼𝘁!!!” I dunno about you… But I’d be outta there quicker than Chuck Norris can slam a revolving door. Because if I’m thinking about spending some serious moolah… I don’t just need information. I need that little internal feeling of: “𝗜 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻.” “𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲.” “𝗜 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀.” And once that trust is there? THEN I start justifying the decision. “The price makes sense.” “I can afford it.” “Yep. This feels like the right move.” And this is where I think a lotta folks are gonna go wrong with AI Just because AI CAN have a conversation… Doesn’t mean it should be having your important sales conversations. Especially when the thing you’re selling is: Expensive. Personal. Complicated. Or requires a bit of trust before someone is willing to pull the trigger. A real human can notice hesitation. Ask a better question. Make a joke. Change direction. Reassure someone. And sometimes… That tiny bit of human interaction is the difference between: “I’ll think about it.” And: “Fuck it. Let’s do it.” Now… And IMO… The peeps that understand the difference are going to sell a helluva lot more than the ones trying to automate every conversation they possibly can.
