Post 8: Leadership Nugget For March 2026: Leadership Procrastination "Termites in the Foundation"
Week 1: Leadership Procrastination There's a term I use for avoidance in leadership, and I call it "Leadership Procrastination." It’s what happens when you know a conversation needs to happen, a correction needs to be made, a standard needs to be clarified, or a tension needs to be addressed... and you keep putting it off. It feels small in the moment, but it’s not harmless. Because if trust is your foundation, leadership procrastination is like termites in the structure. You may not see the damage right away. From the outside, things can still look solid. But underneath? Distrust spreads. Dissent grows. Conflict hardens. Confusion multiplies. And by the time the damage becomes visible, it’s usually already expensive. That’s the danger of leadership procrastination: What you delay today quietly weakens what you’re trying to build tomorrow.
