Jesus shared the parable of new wine and new wineskins to remind us that God often does something new in our lives—and our hearts must be ready to receive it.
New wine represents new work, new growth, and fresh direction from God. Old wineskins symbolize old mindsets, habits, or ways of thinking that can no longer hold what God is pouring out. If we try to fit God’s new plans into old patterns, we risk missing what He is doing.
This parable challenges us to remain flexible, humble, and open to change. Sometimes God asks us to let go of what’s familiar so we can step into something better. Growth requires willingness—trusting that God knows what He’s doing, even when it feels uncomfortable.
Ask yourself today: Am I making room for the new work God wants to do in my life? When we surrender old ways and allow God to renew us, we become new wineskins—ready to hold all that He has prepared.
“No one pours new wine into old wineskins… new wine must be poured into new wineskins.” — Luke 5:37–38
