In Last Sundays AFC Title Game, Bronco Kicker Will Lutz said, “Unfortunately, you couldn’t see the lines on the field and honestly, I think we were — we might have been a yard short on the snap,” Lutz told 104.3 The FAN. “Can’t see the lines on the field and we had to kind of estimate, and a guy comes through, and it was blocked.” As part of my pre-kick ritual, I never assumed the spot that my holder chooses to spot the ball was correct. To eliminate that, I went to the line of scrimmage, and paced off the seven yards, and told the holder, "This is the spot." I don't know if that is something that you could try, if you do, you need to do it every time you line up for a kick. Of course, "back in the day", we played on a lot of muddy fields where there were no lines.
You need to work with your long snapper and your holder, but the decision is up to the kicker. You are the one that one that is leading this operation! What does the rest of the Peanut Gallery think here????
