Morning Relaxation
Even in the busiest moments of caring, there are places and people, that help you breathe again. Every Wednesday morning at 6.30am I attend A Conscious Breath - a one hour Breathwork session with Meditation and Sound Bowl Healing by the lake. This is my one hour - for me. I often follow with a 30 minute walk along the lake. What does your “one hour” look like - share in the comments below 🕊️🌺

Carer Support Groups - Finding Strength in Community
One of the kindest things a carer can do for themselves is to join a room where they don’t have to explain the weight they carry 🙏 Last week I attended our local Carer Support Meeting, and I was reminded how powerful it is to sit in a room with people who get it. The group is run by a Social Worker from the Dementia Advisory Service, part of our Local Health District. We meet once a month — sometimes there is a guest speaker, other times it’s an open discussion where carers can ask questions, share stories, or talk through situations that need advice or support. Every time I go, I leave feeling lighter. Not because the challenges disappear, but because I’ve spent time with others who understand the emotional, practical, and mental load of caring for ageing parents or ageing partners. Many of these parents and partners have Dementia or other cognitive issues. If you are a carer, or know someone who is, I can’t recommend this enough — search your local area for a Carer Support Group. It’s one of the most valuable things you can do for yourself and the people you care for. We don’t have to do this alone. There’s real strength in community — and sometimes, just being heard is the best kind of help 🌸 To find local Carer Support Meetings go to the Carer Gateway Website - Peer support groups for carers | Carer Gateway

Carer Support Groups - Finding Strength in Community
3 Years Ago, Today - A Moment That Changed Everything
Three years ago today, I walked into a hospital expecting a routine day. My mum was having a simple operation — nothing dramatic, nothing worrying. She was fully herself then: sharp, independent, still living at home, caring for my dad who had been diagnosed with Dementia the year before. But after the surgery, everything shifted. She went into a prolonged Delirium that didn’t lift for seven long months. An acute state of complete confusion. In a single moment, without warning, I became the person responsible for both of my ageing parents. No preparation. No roadmap. Just the sudden reality that everything had changed, and I had to step in. That was the beginning of my journey as a Default Carer. Three years later, I am still learning, still navigating, still advocating — and still showing up. Not because it’s easy, but because it’s what love looks like when life turns unexpectedly. If you are here in this community, you probably have your own version of this story. Sudden. Unexpected. Life altering. And I want you to know - I see you. Today isn’t just an anniversary for me — it’s a reminder of why this space exists. Why carers need support. Why we need each other. Why sharing our experiences matters. If you feel comfortable, I’d love to hear: What was the moment you realised you had become a carer? Your story might help someone else feel less alone today 🌸

Starting the Home Support Process - Where Is Everyone At…
The Australian Home Care system can feel like a maze 😩 — especially when you are trying to figure out what to do first for yourself, your parents, or your partner. Before I share more resources, I would love to understand where this community is starting from. This quick poll will help me see what’s clear, what’s confusing, and where people most need support. Your answers will shape the next posts, guides, and conversations here ✅ Take a moment and vote — your experience matters, and it helps all of us ⭐ 🔹Question - When you first think about getting home help, what is the first step you believe you should take ❓
